the Librarian

Our librarian at school is retiring this year.
We all made a page for a scrapbook for her.
This is my page. I used October Afternoon Public Library. It was perfect for this!
The top "library card" pulls out with a message from me to her.

I used Tim Holtz's Butterfly Die Cut with Embossing Folder. to make the butterflies.
I love how it turned out!

Happy Mother's Day

Here is the card I made for my mom for Mothers Day!

I used BoBunny paper on the bottom. Tim Holtz Distress Cardstock on top I embossed with Tim's Flourish Embossing Folder.
I die cut the Tim Holtz Baroque and then handcut from green BoBunny paper another Baroque slightly larger than the die cut. I edged the white paper with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.
I sprayed seam binding with Dylusion spray in Pure Sunshine and then Turquoise (turned more green than I wanted... I was trying for yellow with blue ....didn't quite work but the green is close to the green on the paper although it's hard to tell in the picture)

I hand wrote the message and added a few blings. Made the bow and stamped LOVE inside.
Done.

Happy Mother's Day to all mother's everywhere!

Zentangle experiments.....

More doodling.....

I like the top and right side. Bottom needs something else and the left is okay
but needs more practice!

I was practicing draping and making "bubbles" I saw in a Zentangle book.

I get all my Zentangle books off of Amazon.

More Zentangles......

More ATC doodling...

I was using a Zentangle book trying to teach myself some new tangles.
Ignore the top left... it didn't work and then I smeared it! blah....

I like the right 2 sides the most... I will use them again.

Little Owl

Here is another ATC I made. I drew the owl and then added Zentangles. I added white highlights and some shading with a pencil. I used Salty Ocean Distress Marker to add a border around the owl
Isn't he cute? This is one of those......
"I meant it to look different, but really like how it turned out and can't believe it's as cute as it is!"

Pray

I started with an ATC card.  I made the bubble letters. Then did Zentangles in each one. Then I used Picked Raspberry Tim Holtz Distress Marker to make swirls in the background. I used it to make a heart in the PRA. I also drew a Broken China border.

I was thinking of this verse when I made this....

Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks........

I have it up on my mirror in my bedroom so I can look at it everyday.

Happy Birthday Mom

I found old slides my grandpa had and made a dvd so I could make prints.
I decided to pick some prints of my mom as a girl and make her a birthday book.
She cried.......

I guess she liked it! I went with a blue and yellow theme. Two of my mom's favorite colors. I used old papers that were in the same blue and yellow tones--- but I only know what a few of the companies! I used papers left over from several different paper lines.......
some Basic Grey, My Mind's Eye, BoBunny......

I covered the front in the top corner with the yellow gingham. Then tore the blue and covered the bottom right and top left corners. The buttons are BoBunny chipboard embellishments. I made the roses and greenery from Tim Holtz die cuts.

The ribbon is stained with yellow, blue and a little green...... and some lacy self-stick ribbon.....
Her name is cut from Tim Holtz die cut... typewriter font.

I sprayed some white prima flowers with Dylusions lemon yellow and used them throughout the book. I used some yellow self-stick lacy ribbon, blue rhinestones, yellow button, more BoBunny buttons and a Tim Holtz file folder clip. I also used a Tim Holtz flourish stamp in Broken China.

I have a Prima doily die cut. It is only partially cut out. All the center cuts didn't come out and I left them in. I liked it this way. The big yellow flower is a Tim Holtz die cut flower with a Prima button in the middle. The C is a wood block C from Tim Holtz paper stash. I cut it out and used Glossy Accents to add a Tim Holtz fragment. Then a Basic Grey button.

I used October Afternoon Birthday embellishments on this page.
I used the Deco Cropper to cut all the corners.

I wanted it finished to give to her. I am going to make journal cards for her to make comments on each page which I will stick between each page. I wanted to emphasize the photos.

Musical Rosettes

I wanted to make a garland for my daughter's recital.
I took some  Tim Holtz musical tissue I got from The Scrapbooking Studio.
I spray glued the tissue to black and white cardstock.

I then used the Tim Holtz Rosette die cut (also from The Scrapbooking Studio)
and cut until I was out of paper.

I started folding and assembling rosettes. After experimentation, I discovered I like the look of a white rosette with a black center and a black rosette with a white center.

I then added a string and glued a pink backing to hold the string in place.
I really like how they turned out!

I ran the garland down the center of the table. Several people commented how it looked!

Something Sweet

Another car tag.........

I used another Prima stencil with Concord Distress Ink.
I added a Tim Holtz paper stash butterfly, an inked heart stamp and another Basic Grey button.
I added some more Tim Holtz yarn that I chain knotted.

Then a "little something sweet" stamp.......

Little Joys

Here is another tag I created in the car.
I made it for my Parisian loving daughter.
I used some Prima stencils I have and a Tim Holtz Eiffel Tower stamp.
The stencils are in Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. The Eiffel Tower is in Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.  I also used some Tim Holtz yarn/string. I added a Tim Holtz "stamp" from some of his paper stash. I also added a Basic Grey button. I then used a little stamper to add "Little Joys".
Not bad for in the car........

Learn to see an Imperfect person perfectly.....

Another tag I made in the car!

I really push myself to make "manly" tags. With 3 boys in the family, I always need "manly" birthday cards, tags ... whatever. I made this for my husband.

I stamped the script background....added a Tim Holtz Man stamp, a piece of burlap, a Basic Grey button, a plain journaling chipboard, a bit of brown lace, a Tim Holtz arrow, some die cut Tim Holtz letters and some chat words. I finished with a piece of seam binding with Distress Ink Barn Door and Walnut. I got everything from The Scrapbooking Studio.

Sing

Here's an ATC.
This is all Tim Holtz stamps-- bird, flower and nest. A Tim Holtz chat is stapled on to the card.
I stamped and colored with Distress Markers. I stamped a script stamp as the  background. I added a few rhinestones as the eggs.

Remember....

Here is another tag I made in the car. I had no plan for this. I just kept adding.

I stenciled the lines from Tim Holtz's Stripes Stencil using Peeled Paint Distress Ink.
I added a hand stamp, hand tissue tape, quote stamp (all Tim Holtz) and a flower with a corduroy brad and a Basic Grey button. I finished with a black ribbon and a typewriter charm (can't remember which company it is but got it from The Scrapbooking Studio.)

Not one of my favorites, but I like the overall look.

Dance for Yourself......

I love making little ATCs and tags in the car. I hate riding in the car.  It's so boring and such a time waster! Anyway, crafting makes the time go faster and it's fun!

So I will be posting some things I've made on some recent car trips.

Here's some Dyan Reaveley stamps I got from The Scrapbooking Studio.

I stamped the girl and her body parts seperately. I used Dyan's sprays in Tim Holtz's Water Brush with detail nib. I stamped a border and multiple flowers on the tag as a background. I stamped the quote on a seperate white paper, cut it out and used Tim's tissue tape as a border.

My floral wallet

I saw this Basic Wallet on Pinterest and decided to try it. This is one of my favorite fabrics- Waverly pattern. I added the lace in the seam. The inside fabric is also Waverly a green toile! I've used both fabrics in my house. This wallet was pretty simple if you know basic sewing techniques.

The bottom edge came out crooked because the filling kept sticking out. I resewed the edge and it got crooked. But it' s the first thing I've sewed in Years! So not too bad. Can't see it when it's closed! :)

Bunnies!!

I always make some kind of place card for the Easter table when we have a lot of people over.

I wanted the Tim Holtz Bunny for this, but couldn't find one anywhere!
So I found this bunny ornament at Hobby Lobby. It's a chalkboard meant to be written on with chalk. I used it to trace bunnies!

So I traced 10 bunnies out of brown paper. I inked the edges with Walnut Distress Ink.
Then I  cut out pink and blue Tim Holtz bows.
I also cut out the Tim Holtz Small Easel for each bunny
so it can stand at each person's place at the table.

Aren't they cute?

Good Friday

Birthday Boy Tag for a Genius

My son is a science nerd.
He is planning on engineering. He loves chemistry and physics.
I saw some hearts made from gears on Pinterest.
So I whipped up this tag for his birthday.

I cut out a bunch of Tim Holtz Movers & Shapers gears. I painted them with Distress Paint. I used gold, silver and pumice. I then inked Walnut Distress over and around the edges. I cut a rough heart shape from some extra manila and used that as the base.
I layered my gears, some circles and metal gears and circles.

I cut a tag from the Tim Holtz Thinlits. I cut out the periodic table from the Tim Holtz Laboratorie paper. I ripped a piece of poison advertising paper too. I glued on all that on the tag and inked the edges with Walnut. I embossed Happy Birthday in some copper embossing powder.

I glued on the heart and added a twill ribbon.

He liked it. Just smiled and said thanks.
(That's a huge compliment!)

Vintage Girl Gift Card

Here is my version of Tammy's Gift Box.
I didn't have the Tim Holtz fabric so I used the Tim Holtz Paper instead.
I made a stand-up card with the small easel die.
The rest of her tutorial I followed fairly closely.

I didn't have the butterfly stamp she used. I made a Tim Holtz butterfly die cut (top right corner) but they ended up too small. So I hand cut butterfly wings and used a lace stamp to make butterfly wings. They weren't even, but I cut them apart and the girl covers it much of it, so I wasn't worried about that. (Usually that would bug me!)

Here is the girl I printed on cardstock. I've colored her hair and cheeks so far. This is the paper she will hold. It says "Gentle Thoughts of you Happy Birthday" Both stamps are old Stampin' Up stamps.

Here she is with blue bow, colored dress and wings attached.

This is a close up of the flowers and ribbon BUT on the white chipboard background. I ended up ripping it off and doing a black chipboard background. I liked that much better.

Even my husband said "Gorgeous!" He usually says... nice!
Love it.
Happy Birthday Mom!

Tammy Tutterow's Vintage Girlie Gift Box

I found this adorable antique picture turned into a gift box from Tammy Tutterow. I needed to make a birthday card for my mom and loved this idea. I made it into a card/easel picture. More to come.....

Absolutely Adorable

Birthday Boy idea......

My --soon to be 16-- son is SO hard to get birthday presents for! He only wants REALLY expensive items..... anyone else have this problem?
Anyway, my son has always wanted to learn to ski... (my husband's favorite sport) but when he hit a good age to learn to ski (meaning we had skis and boots that fit) he had spinal surgery.

Discussing ideas for this year, my husband was lamenting not being able to ski this year. He suggested maybe driving out to Colorado catching "end of the season" price deals for a long weekend and taking him along. I said "Why not?"

So... then I was trying to think how to "wrap" this as a gift.

I made this.

I cut a Tim Holtz ticket strip and stamped a couple different Tim Holtz ticket stamps. I used the date one and circled his birthday. I made a who, what, where ticket for his driver's license. A Free Ski Lessons ticket and a free trip to Colorado ticket.

The kicker (which I didn't get a picture of because it wouldn't all fit) is the last ticket.

It says
"GOOD ONLY IF DAD DOESN'T HAVE JURY DUTY"

We planned all this, and then my husband got the dreaded jury duty letter. So he has to call Friday to see if he has to come on Monday. If he doesn't, they leave! If he does........ I guess the ticket will be good for next year!
